Role and Responsibilities

OP Labs is looking for a Head of Finance to build and lead the financial backbone of the Optimism ecosystem.

As the finance leader at OP Labs, you’ll oversee financial strategy, forecasting, burn-rate management, and accounting, while partnering closely with the leadership team to ensure coherent, transparent, and mission-aligned financial stewardship across OP Labs and the broader ecosystem.

You’ll help define how capital is allocated, how growth is funded, and ultimately how OP Labs builds itself successfully into a sustaining business. This is a foundational role that blends strategic finance, treasury, financial operation, and organizational design, a chance to architect the financial systems for one of the most important projects in web3.

What are the role responsibilities?

• Lead financial strategy, planning, and reporting across OP Labs.

• Act as a key strategic advisor to the CEO and exec team, providing financial insights and guidance on business decisions.

• Drive financial planning, treasury, financial budget, and reporting.

• Build and oversee FP&A, accounting, and tax functions.

• Drive budgeting, forecasting, and scenario modeling in collaboration with Product, Legal, and Operations.

• Develop frameworks to evaluate ROI on grants, partnerships, and investments

• Manage relationships with banking, custody, and audit partners.

• Oversee financial compliance, audits, and tax reporting.

• Partner with Legal on treasury and token-related initiatives as well as general tax compliance.

• Mentor and grow a multidisciplinary finance team.

What skills do you bring?

• 10+ years in finance, including leadership in FP&A, corporate finance, or strategic finance.

• Proven experience building or scaling finance functions at a high-growth tech, fintech, or crypto organization.

• Seasoned expert in financial modeling, planning, and reporting.

• Comfortable working across entities and building collaborative relationships with Legal, Product, and Operations.

• A systems thinker who can balance rigor with adaptability.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience in crypto financial management.

• Familiarity with complex dual-entity or hybrid structures (Labs + Foundation setups).
