Job Objective

This role will lead the design and delivery of large-scale digital banking capabilities across multiple business domains under the Institutional Banking Group, ensuring the platform is scalable, secure, resilient, and aligned with the bank’s strategic objectives. The successful candidate will combine strong banking domain expertise with deep hands-on engineering knowledge, modern software architecture experience, and proven leadership of large engineering organizations.
Principal Responsibilities
The core responsibilities for this role involve providing technical leadership and strategic direction for the Corporate Internet Banking Platform and driving high standards in engineering practices.
- Technology Vision & Strategic Leadership
- Define and drive the technology vision, engineering strategy, and architecture roadmap for the Corporate Internet Banking Platform.
- Ensure consistent adoption of platform design principles, including Domain-Driven Design, API-first development, event-driven integration, microservices architecture, and cloud-native engineering practices.
- Engineering Delivery & Technical Leadership
- Lead engineering delivery across business domains such as Payments, Trade Finance, Accounts, Entitlements, Approvals, Notifications, Reporting, Dashboard, and Shared Services.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership through architecture reviews, solution reviews, code reviews, design governance, and production readiness assessments.
- Lead engineering teams across workstreams and vendor partners, ensuring high-quality delivery and predictable execution.
- Architecture & Engineering Standards
- Drive solution architecture, technology selection, engineering standards, and development practices across the platform.
- Establish and enforce enterprise engineering standards covering architecture, API design, microservices, event-driven systems, security, observability, testing, and release management.
- AI-Assisted Engineering & Governance
- Champion the adoption of AI-enabled software engineering practices and development accelerators across the engineering organization.
- Establish and enforce governance and controls for the use of AI engineering tools to ensure compliance with architecture, security, risk, and regulatory standards.
- Stakeholder Collaboration & Talent Development
- Partner closely with business stakeholders to understand strategic objectives and translate business requirements into scalable technology solutions.
- Mentor Engineering Leads, Architects, Senior Engineers, and Domain Leads, building long-term technology capabilities within the organization.
- Engineering Excellence & DevSecOps
- Drive DevSecOps and engineering excellence initiatives, including CI/CD, automated testing, performance engineering, resiliency testing, observability, and production support practices.
- Brand Enhancement
- Collaborate with other DTC teams to continuously improve our Tech branding and service quality in China.
Education and Relevant Experience
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or an equivalent field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 15 years in software engineering, with at least 8 years leading large-scale banking technology programs.
- Proven track record of delivering enterprise-scale platforms in areas such as Corporate Internet Banking, Transaction Banking, Cash Management, Trade Finance, Payments, Digital Banking, or Corporate Banking.
- Experience leading technology organizations distributed across multiple countries, vendors, and development
