This role will require being full-time onsite at our Toronto office to support collaborative team dynamics and innovative problem-solving.

BitGo seeks a decisive engineering leader to spearhead and scale our data engineering teams and our data platform. This role critically emphasizes processing and delivering financial datasets where reliability, accuracy, and reconciliation are paramount. You will drive the evolution of BitGo’s data platform, enhancing data accessibility for internal teams and external stakeholders, including customers and auditors. This role demands the design, construction, and oversight of data solution deployments, capturing, managing, storing, and leveraging structured and unstructured data from diverse sources. You will collaborate intensely with adept engineers, analysts, data scientists, product managers, and security experts across various domains, gaining comprehensive exposure to all business facets. Responsibilities:

  • Build, lead, and scale engineering teams focused on data related services and infrastructure
  • Coach and mentor engineers, supporting career growth while driving measurable organizational impact
  • Partner with product managers, designers, and leadership to translate vision into quarterly roadmaps. Break down complex projects into iterative milestones and lead delivery
  • Make thoughtful architectural decisions, uphold engineering best practices, and foster a culture of high-quality code and design
  • Own the design, delivery, and operation of our data platform and financial reporting platform
  • Set the long term direction and evolution of the data platform
  • Collaborate closely with recruiting to identify and attract world-class engineering talent.
  • Roll up your sleeves when needed — from reviewing designs and code to triaging incidents or joining on-call rotations

Required

  • Engineering degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 8+ years of work experience in data engineering
  • 2+ years of experience managing engineering teams
  • Strong experience with server-side languages like TypeScript/Node.JS/Python/Kotlin
  • Strong experience with SQL databases like Postgres or MySQL
  • Strong experience with RESTful API design
  • Experience building data pipelines/ETL and familiarity with design principles
  • Experience with data warehouse technologies and relevant data modeling best practices (Snowflake, BigQuery, Spark, Presto, Druid, etc)
  • Strong experience with systems design and event driven systems (Kafka)
  • A self-starter capable of adapting quickly and being decisive
  • Experience leading projects and other engineers
  • Experience with unit and functional testing and debugging
  • Experience with microservices and service-oriented architectures
  • Experience in Git/GitHub and branching methodologies, code review tools, CI tools, JIRA, Confluence, etc.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Preferred

  • Experience in Financial Services and/or Financial Technology 
  • Experience with microservices and service-oriented architectures
  • Understanding and strong interest in cryptocurrencies and blockchain industry
  • Experience with large-scale, real-time, and distributed applications
  • Experience with data governance, handling PII, data masking

Pay Transparency Notice: Depending upon your leveling and location, the compensation for this role averages between $230,000 - $280,000 CAD base salary. Equity and an annual performance bonus are also a part of this role's package.
