What you'll do:

You will manage, investigate, and log justifications relating to transaction monitoring system alerts generated by the bank for customers in Australia and New Zealand, ensuring thorough documentation and timely resolution.

You will contribute to the development and implementation of a best-in-class alert monitoring function within the Oceania Compliance team by leveraging experience from other leading banks and adapting proven capabilities.

You will actively participate in conceptualising and formulating new policies, frameworks, programmes, and procedures in collaboration with other business units as required, aligning with new applicable AML/CTF standards and other financial crime regulatory authorities such as AUSTRAC and DIA.

You will assist in the fiscally responsible use of resources by identifying efficiencies within compliance processes without compromising quality or accuracy.

You will conduct day-to-day transaction monitoring activities, identifying any potential suspicious or fraudulent activity through careful analysis of customer data and financial institution records.

You will perform enhanced due diligence on flagged transactions or accounts, ensuring all relevant risks are adequately assessed and documented.

You will ensure that AML compliance risks are identified, monitored, controlled, reported as required, and that all processes comply with relevant bank rules, regulations, and legal requirements.

You will support internal stakeholders including managers and regional staff by building strong working relationships that facilitate effective communication regarding compliance matters.

You will prepare analytics and reports to identify, monitor, track transaction monitoring system alert outcomes, liaising with relevant departments for timely reporting.

You will assist with enquiries from internal customers such as other business units or management regarding compliance issues, providing clear explanations and guidance.

What you bring:

At least one year of work experience at a financial institution relating specifically to financial services compliance
-
A solid understanding of banking-related local regulatory requirements as well as best practices
-
Good knowledge of Australian AML/CTF regulations
-
Good communication skills allow you to communicate with stakeholders at various levels.

Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously to ensure deadlines are met

Your attention to detail ensures diligent investigation of alerts and accurate reporting on outcomes.

Experience working independently as well as collaboratively within teams

Degree qualification

AML/CTF-based qualification further enhances your credentials (preferred).
