MUFG is seeking an Analyst, Regulatory Reporting and Tax to join their team in Kuala Lumpur. The role plays a key part in ensuring all submissions are prepared accurately, completed on time, and aligned with applicable regulatory standards. You will work closely with various functions including Finance, Treasury, Operations, Compliance, and Risk Management, collaborating to gather, validate, and analyze reporting data while maintaining high standards of governance and control.

What you'll do:

As an Analyst, Regulatory Reporting and Tax, you will be entrusted with ensuring the MUFG’s regulatory returns are submitted punctually with unwavering precision.

  • Prepare and submit regulatory and statistical returns with meticulous accuracy whilst adhering strictly to prescribed timelines
  • Conduct comprehensive data validation, reconciliation, and variance analysis between regulatory returns, financial records, and source systems
  • Ensure completeness, accuracy, and consistency of information reported to regulators by maintaining robust supporting schedules, documentation, and audit trails for all submissions
  • Monitor changes in regulatory reporting requirements proactively and assess their impact on existing processes
  • Support regulatory examinations, queries, and inspections related to reporting matters
  • Maintain and update detailed reporting procedures, process documentation, and control frameworks to enhance transparency and reliability throughout the reporting cycle
  • Assist in the preparation of corporate income tax computations and tax provisions whilst coordinating annual tax filings with external advisors
  • Monitor tax payments diligently to ensure compliance with statutory deadlines as well as support withholding tax, indirect tax, and other obligations arising from business transactions
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities by preparing statutory financial statements, notes to accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, accounting schedules, and supporting analyses
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement by participating in finance transformation initiatives such as digitalization projects or system enhancements

What you bring:

To excel in this role, your proven experience should encompass handling intricate financial data within regulated environments.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related disciplines
  • Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, ICAEW or CIMA is advantageous
  • At least 1 to 3 years’ relevant experience within banking or accounting firm environments
  • Understanding of banking regulatory reporting requirements
  • Good knowledge of accounting standards (MFRS/IFRS)
  • Familiarity with Malaysian corporate taxation principles
  • Basic understanding of transfer pricing concepts
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel including data analysis techniques
  • Relevant experience with financial reporting systems or ERP platforms
  • Excellent communication skills combined with stakeholder management abilities
