DRW is a diversified trading firm with over 3 decades of experience bringing sophisticated technology and exceptional people together to operate in markets around the world. We value autonomy and the ability to quickly pivot to capture opportunities, so we operate using our own capital and trading at our own risk.

Headquartered in Chicago with offices throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Asia, we trade a variety of asset classes including Fixed Income, ETFs, Equities, FX, Commodities and Energy across all major global markets. We have also leveraged our expertise and technology to expand into three non-traditional strategies: real estate, venture capital and cryptoassets.

We operate with respect, curiosity and open minds. The people who thrive here share our belief that it’s not just what we do that matters–it's how we do it. DRW is a place of high expectations, integrity, innovation and a willingness to challenge consensus.

The UP - Business Experience team is looking for a Software Engineer to join us in our mission to empower business users across the firm to leverage DRW technology in pursuit of their goals.

We pursue our mission through three programs:

  • Tools – We develop things like Excel Add-ins and Python packages that business people use to build their own solutions.
  • Guidance – We write how-to articles and suggest techniques to business people that guide them to approved "golden paths".
  • Applications – We write small- to medium-sized applications that business people use in their day-to-day work.

What you will do in this role

  • Primarily work on legacy code, and sometimes work on green-field development.
  • Lead small projects to completion.
  • Hands on with business users, sometimes collaborating with them to improve their software.
  • Production support (one weekend per month on-call).

What you will need in this role

  • Strong interest in and desire to learn about the business of proprietary trading.
  • Ability to gather business requirements from key stakeholders and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fluency in one or both of Python and C#.
  • Ability to work with AI coding assistants (e.g. Claude Code) to accelerate software development.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 6+ years of Software Engineering experience.
